NEW MODEL NOW AVAILABLE!
MotionStar Wireless 2 with new and improved Advanced DC Tracking Technology and our Environmental Analyzer, which we will loan to you, overcomes the metal, noise and accuracy problems that once plagued magnetic mocap.

Use it to capture the full-body motions of as many as five performers in real time for multiple character interaction. Without occlusion or perceptible lag. No other motion-capture system in the world captures as many performers as quickly and accurately as MotionStar Wireless 2.

Base-station (Left). Extended-range transmitter and Controller (Right). Performer-mounted electronics, sensors and RF transmitter (foreground).

Upgrade kits available for current MotionStar Wireless users.

FEATURE DESCRIPTION BENEFIT ADVANTAGE
Multi-performer real-time engine Track as many as 5 performers at once for real time animation of fully rendered characters and props.

Real-time feedback for pre-visualization, multiple character interaction and improved performances.

Directors and performers get instant feedback to perfect performances on the fly.

Only MoCap system in world to capture 3, 4, and even 5 performers in real-time.

Realistic interaction of characters.

Most affordable MoCap system for multiple character capture.

Environmental Analyzer for optimal installation and performance New tool helps you find best location in workspace to install MotionStar 2 and minimize metal and noise interference.

Analyzer lets you see ferrous metal in floor, walls, and ceiling and find optimal locaiton for MotionStar Wireless 2.

Analyzer's noise sensing function lets you adjust tracker measurement rate to minimize 50/60 Hz noise.

Use of the Analyzer with preinstallation instructions enables animators to find optimal locations for MoCap session.

The benefits of magnetic tracking are no longer a the mercy of an animator's environment.
Advanced DC tracking technology New backpack electronics and improved algorithms.

Dynamic accuracy significantly improved.

Better vertical motion accuracy as sensors on performers move towards and away from the system's magnetic field.

No data jumps when a sensor is rotated about its axis.

Spend less time cleaning data in post and more time animating characters.

Higher accuracy reduces filtering of data files.

Fast, accurate capture of true motions.

Six degrees-of-freedom tracking Each sensor delivers a full six degrees-of-freedom (X, Y, Z, Yaw, Pitch, Roll) solution. In a 13-sensor system this equates to 78 dedicated data points per second instantly streaming onto the performer's character.

Highest data count per sensor/marker yields fully articulated and smooth tracking.

Catch every nuance of the performance for most realistic motion capture session.
Non-occlusion magnetic technology Magnetic fields go right through all non-metallic objects without loss of signal or accuracy.

Sensors outputs are never blocked; signals are never lost.

No occlusions -- ever.

No data gaps that must be later filled in.

Spend less time cleaning data in post and more time animating.

Set up shots and scenes without worrying about the closeness of performer interaction.

Solid state electronics

No moving parts.

No cameras and tripods to align and calibrate.

No recurring maintenance.

Less time and cost associated with maintaining, calibrating and operating systems.

Less down time; more MoCap time.

Purchase price is your real cost over time.

Versatile mocap data pipeline component System sets up in less than an hour and can be used outdoors. Components are easily transportable. Portable, flexible, durable and easy to use. Count on it for producing quick, easy and high-quality mocap data.
Low cost Single performer systems starting below $60,000. Best price-performance ratio. Affordable, high quality motion capture data.

Measurement rate: Up to 120 measurements/second
Outputs: X, Y, Z positional coordinates and orientation angles, rotation matrix, or quaternions
Interface: Ethernet, RS-232C
Line-of-sight restrictions: None
Distortion and Noise Interference:

Ferrous metal in floors, walls and ceilings as well as noise sources in the motion-capture area can adversely affect measurements. To avoid problems, be sure to do the following:

  • You can purchase an Environmental Analyzer to sweep your capture area before installing the system. It will show you where to install the system to minimize metal effects and the best measurement rate to avoid 60/50Hz noise sources that can cause jitter.
  • Read also in your user manual how to adjust frequencies if the RF signal from your performers backpack is picking up interfering noise from a nearby source of electromagnetic emissions broadcasting in the 2.45 GHz bandwidth.
