Ascension Offers
Free Airfare to Individualized
ReActor 2 Mocap Demonstrations
in Vermont
Burlington, Vermont
USA: July 11, 2003:
Ascension Technology Corporation
now flies qualified buyers
to its headquarters in northern
Vermont for onsite demonstrations
of the active-optical ReActor
2 (R2™) motion tracker.
Ascension is the only company
that manufactures both magnetic
and optical motion capture
systems for different applications
and budgets. This summer,
the company will demonstrate
its magnetic MotionStar Wireless
technology at SIGGRAPH while
bringing potential ReActor
buyers to Vermont for a more
personal, customized demonstration.
Ascension also welcomes prospective
buyers to send their characters
to Ascension ahead of time,
so they can see their own
characters in the demonstration
of ReActor 2.
In Booth 2528 at SIGGRAPH,
ReActor 2 will appear onscreen
in a video exhibit showing
the system’s set-up, operation
and samples of work by ReActor
clients. Ascension’s MotionStar
Wireless® magnetic motion
tracker will be featured onstage
in three-performer motion
capture demos.
“We are offering free airfare
to qualified buyers, so they
can see how R2 specifically
serves their mocap needs.
Once that happens, its advantages
will be apparent,” explains
Ascension Vice President Jack
Scully.
R2 is the next generation
of Ascension’s successful
ReActor tracking system which
introduced wireless, clean,
lightweight infrared active-optical
tracking to the mocap market.
R2’s 544 digital detectors
are embedded in a 12-bar modular
frame for complete tracking
coverage. As with its predecessor,
R2 offers Instant Marker Recognition
to eliminate nearly all occlusion
drop-outs. Robust, new algorithms
improve accuracy, reduce noise
and provide consistently clean
data throughout the capture
space.
Unlike other motion capture
systems in which frequent
calibrations and breakdowns
are the norm, R2’s rugged,
one-piece frame eliminates
tripod alignment headaches
and the need for camera calibration.
Once the system is set up,
data capture can begin immediately.
R2’s FusionCore software provides
complete diagnostics and real-time
visualization of system parameters.
Ascension Technology Corporation
