Ascension to Showcase
3D Navigator in VizEveryWhere
Immersive Display
at IEEE VR Conference
BURLINGTON, VERMONT; MARCH
19, 2004: Ascension
Technology’s new
3D
Navigator™ advanced wireless
navigation device will be
showcased in Booth
#13 at the
IEEE Virtual Reality 2004
conference in Chicago, March
27-31, 2004. Booth co-hosts,
VizEveryWhere,
will exhibit their latest
product, Viz3D™,
an integrated visualization
package for researchers and
educators. Together, Ascension
and VizEveryWhere will demonstrate
how 3D Navigator lets users
interact in real time with
Viz3D’s affordable, PC-based
immersive display.
The booth demonstrations
will vary from molecular modeling
and scientific visualization
to medical imaging and oil
and gas geophysical structures.
All conference attendees are
invited to stop by to see
the Viz3D and 3D Navigator
exhibit and to obtain more
information about Ascension’s
tracking products and their
diversified simulation and
visualization applications.
3D Navigator is an ergonomically
designed wireless interface
between graphical computers
and humans. It provides users
with total freedom of movement,
unrestrained by the hindrance
of trailing cables. 3D Navigator
features Ascension’s new Advanced
Wireless DC Magnetic Technology™
as well as complete portability
and no line-of-sight interference.
It enables high performance
6 degrees-of-freedom (6DOF)
tracking for accurate real-time
interactive pointing and navigating.
Unprecedented measurement
stability is accompanied by
metal detection and noise
reduction tools that ensure
environmental factors do not
affect tracking.
Viz3D is an easily deployable
stereo imaging system that
integrates electronics, projectors,
power and connectivity. It
will work with any hardware
platform supporting a graphics
card capable of outputting
a stereo signal. Viz3D is
extremely flexible—sets up
in less than 15 minutes, can
be used as a portable solution
or permanent mount, and supports
screen sizes from 5 feet wide
to 10 feet wide.
The conference exhibit will
use TGS Amira software, encompassing
powerful automatic and interactive
segmentation tools to support
processing of 3D image data.
Amira’s speed and visual quality
allow exploration of 3D imagery
obtained from CT, MRI, ultrasound
scanning, confocal or wide-field
microscropy or similar sources.
Ascension Technology Corporation,
based in Burlington, Vermont,
USA, is the world leader in
magnetic motion tracking solutions
for medical applications.
