Ascension and VizEveryWhere
Form Strategic Alliance for
PC-Based Immersive Solutions
BURLINGTON, VERMONT; FEBRUARY
19, 2004: Ascension
Technology and VizEveryWhere
LLC, which make complimentary
tracking and stereo display
products, announce a strategic
alliance to market affordable
real-time immersive systems.
Co-operatively, the companies
will offer an array of interactive
systems that let users immerse
themselves in and fly through
virtual representations of
graphical 3D datasets. Applications
include virtual design, group
visualization and biomedical
analysis.
Ascension will provide its
new 3D
Navigator™ for
use with VizEveryWhere visualization
systems, including its VizWall™
and Viz3D™
projectors. VizWall
is the world’s first PC stereo,
edge-blended visualization
system.
Featuring highly accurate
and stable six degree-of-freedom
tracking of one’s head and
handheld pointer, 3D Navigator
enables a user to navigate
through VizWall’s projected
3D image, select objects for
manipulation and intuitively
operate tools and instruments.
For freedom of movement without
occlusion, it features third-generation
DC magnetic tracking technology
with smooth tracking at high
measurement rates even in
crowds of people. It is also
highly portable and sets-up
in minutes.
VizEveryWhere has a long
history of making visualization
products for academic research,
commercial enterprises and
government applications. Ascension
brings five unique tracking
technologies presently available
in 13 products to motion tracking
requirements in simulation,
virtual reality, biomechanics,
animation and medical imaging.
The alliance is aimed at delivering
cost-effective, high quality
products to the real-time
visualization marketplace.
In announcing the alliance,
VizEveryWhere’s Jeff Eisenhard,
Vice President of Sales &
Marketing, said, “We are very
excited about the opportunity
to partner with Ascension.
Their leadership role in motion
tracking products, along with
our affordable, easily deployable
3D stereo display solutions
is a natural match. I am sure
we will share in each other’s
success!”
For its part, Ascension’s
New Sales Development Manager,
Greg Erdmann, sees the relationship
as a way of bringing the power
of high-end 3D visualization
to researchers who otherwise
could not afford it. “Now
VizEveryWhere’s customers
can experience the power and
realism that 3D tracking brings
to the control and manipulation
of large-scale data sets.”
