Biopsy Needle Guidance
By embedding a miniaturized sensor (0.55 – 0.9 mm wide) in the tip of a biopsy needle and affixing another one to an ultrasound probe, a physician can now monitor a needle's trajectory during an entire procedure. Sensor-tipped needle guidance helps overcome traditional targeting difficulties associated with needle insertion. By enabling the clinician to see the needle's direction even before the skin is punctured, it increases accuracy, reduces procedural time, and improves patient care.

The system includes visualization software that overlays real-time graphics of the tool's position and trajectory on the ultrasound image plane. As shown in the picture, Trig Guide displays the position of the needle or tool in three-dimensional space and takes the "guesswork" out of clinical interventions.
